NEW DELHI: Moments after Devendra Fadnavis was elected leader of the BJP legislature, an invitation to the oath-taking ceremony was shared by the team of the future Maharashtra chief minister along with the details.
“The swearing-in ceremony of Shri. Devendra Sarita Gangadarrao Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra, along with the Deputy Chief Minister and members of the Cabinet of the State of Maharashtra, will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024. at 5:30 p.m. at Azad Maidan, Fort, Mumbai.”

Fadnavis is scheduled to meet the Maharshtra governor along with Mahayuti allies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar at 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing at the Azad Maidan for the inauguration ceremony, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend the event.

Besides, central ministers, governors and top central leaders of the BJP are also expected to be present.
After eleven days of deliberations and rounds of meetings, the Bharatiya Janata Party finally elected Devendra Fadnavis as CM after the party’s central committee approved his name.
Senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil nominated Fadnavis for the post, supported by leaders like Pankaja Munde.
Earlier, Maharashtra caretaker chief minister Eknath Shinde said the BJP would decide the new CM of the state who would have its full support, and asserted that there was no difference between the party partners. Mahayuti on the formation of the government.
The Mahayuti of the BJP, Shiv Sena and the NCP won a landslide victory in Maharashtra, completely decimating the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
With 236 seats, the ruling coalition retained power in the state with a clear two-thirds majority in the 288-member assembly.
The BJP emerged as the big winner in this election, winning 132 seats on its own with a whopping strike rate of almost 90%. This is 27 more seats than five years ago.
The Shiv Sena and NCP also outperformed their rival factions in the opposition bloc. The Sena with 57 seats and the NCP with 41 seats decimated the opposition, handing the Congress party its worst ever defeat in the state.
