Google’s November 2024 Core Update Still Causes Volatility

We are now a week past the estimated time Google’s November 2024 core update was due and this still appears to be causing a lot of ranking volatility in Google search results. The update was supposed to come two weeks after it began rolling out and we are now three and two weeks away from its initial launch.

And for the last day or so, I’m still seeing a lot of discussion about the ranking movement in Google search results and the tools are starting to increase again this morning. Maybe this is the end of the update and it will finish in the next 24 hours? I don’t know, but I know things are still moving around a lot, maybe related to this core update or something else.

Google has yet to announce that the core update is complete and no, it’s not finished – it’s still rolling out, well past the “up to 2 weeks” deadline Google gave us. Of course, we found that these updates were lengthy and took longer than Google expected. But no, it’s not done yet and we are almost 23 days into deployment, a week and 2 days more than the planned completion date.

As a reminder, Google’s November 2024 Core Update started rolling out on Monday, November 11 at 3:30 p.m. ET and we saw some movement starting around November 13-14, but it hasn’t been that generalized. Then, around November 16, we saw a lot more movement and volatility. Then it calmed down during the second week of updating until November 25-26 and even November 27-28, Thanksgiving weekend.

And now we are seeing more movement and volatility again.
