Body-positive influencer sparks backlash after revealing the real reason she doesn’t have kids: ‘Having kids would take away my greatest gift’

A Brisbane-based influencer sparked outrage on Thursday when she revealed the real reason she didn’t want to have children.

Karina Irby, 34, owner of swimsuit company Moana Swim, posted a lengthy message on Instagram saying having children would take more from her life than she is willing to give.

Although she received an outpouring of support from her 1.1 million followers, others in the comments were outraged by the body-positive influencer’s reasoning.

The backlash began when Karina uploaded several selfies of herself enjoying life, as well as messages she had received from fans asking why she didn’t want kids.

Karina then explained: “I know I would be a fantastic mother, but the idea of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and having a healthy baby terrifies me.

“I’m afraid of losing myself, of losing my identity and of ending up resenting my child. Raising a child in a world plagued by global warming, endless wars and rising costs seems selfish to me.

Brisbane-based influencer Karina Irby, 34 (pictured), sparked outrage on Thursday when she revealed the real reason she didn’t want to have children.

Karina went on to say that she also feared having a child who might one day not love or respect her.

She added that she “would no longer be able to run my businesses – something I love and have worked so hard for”, and “feared” that she would “regret the loss of my freedom”.

“People tell me I’m missing out on the greatest gift of life, but having children would actually take away the greatest gift of life.”

While most of Karina’s fans flocked to the comments to support her decision to live without children and the reasons she gave, others weren’t as forgiving.

‘I’m sorry. But HAHAHAHAHA,” one reviewer said simply, while another said, “Ego on this chick.”

A third wrote: “Oh…global warming…so why are you at the beach?”

“Can I ask who are you building your wealth for if you don’t plan to pass it on to your children?” It’s invasive but it just doesn’t make sense to me,” another questioned.

Someone else pointed out that Karina let her life be dictated by “fear.”

Karina, owner of swimwear company Moana Swim, posted a lengthy post on Instagram saying that having children would take more from her life than she is willing to give.

“Imagine living your life in fear and negative scenarios, “imagine” rather than in a positive way. You CAN still have a successful career or business AND be a mom,” they said.

They added: “Your business is also good enough that you can hire someone to do your job while you relax too. It doesn’t always have to be this extreme.

Another follower was offended by Karina saying it was “selfish” to raise children in modern times.

“Intentionally saying that having a child in today’s world is selfish… it’s offensive, regardless of whether you meant it that way or not,” they said.

“For some people, their only happiness in this world is their children. I’m glad you are self-aware enough to not want them, but unintentionally be labeled selfish because I chose to have children, 3 souls that I love more than I could ever m Loving myself is incredibly hurtful.

“Not to mention parents who want nothing more than to have a baby and may have fertility issues. If you don’t want kids, then you just don’t want them, and that’s fine. You don’t need to explain why.

This comes just weeks after Karina fought back. to online trolls who criticized her decision not to have children, as she admitted she would “regret” having children.

Karina addressed her followers’ concerns during a recent Q&A on her Instagram page.

Although she received an outpouring of support from her 1.1 million followers, others in the comments were outraged by the body-positive influencer’s reasoning.

During the Q&A session, she was rightly asked: “Are you planning to have children?” ” to which Karina responded with a snap of her and her husband, adding: “No. Children per chosen couple here.

The response appeared to anger a number of critics, with one person writing: “You will (sic) reconsider this decision if you don’t have children.” »

However, Karina stood her ground and, while correcting the reviewer’s spelling, fired back: “Regret* How can you be so sure I’m going to regret this? You don’t know me or my husband? I would regret having them.

The content creator and her husband, Ryan, have spoken out about their decision not to have children, explaining that they are simply happier without children.

Despite the reluctance, the influencer remains firm in her decision, encouraging her subscribers to consider that personal choices, particularly in matters of family and reproduction, are private matters.
