Elizabeth Olsen Joins Julia Roberts in Sam Esmail’s Warner Bros. Thriller ‘Panic Carefully’

EXCLUSIVE:Elizabeth Olsen (His three daughters) has struck a deal to join Julia Roberts in Panic with cautiona new film from Warner Bros. which Sam Esmail will direct from his own screenplay.

Described as a paranoid thriller in the vein of Esmail’s Emmy and Golden Globe winner Mister Robotas well as The silence of the lambsthe film’s logline is being kept secret.

The project was distributed to various studios and streamers around the start of this year, with Warner Bros winning out in a heated bidding war, thanks in part to its commitment to a theatrical release. Pic reunites Esmail with Roberts after Leave the world behindtheir hugely popular apocalyptic thriller, based on the 2020 novel by Rumaan Alam, premieres on Netflix in November 2023 and is the streamer’s fifth most popular English-language film of all time, with 143.4 million views.

Producers on Panic with caution include Esmail and Chad Hamilton for Email Corp., as well as Scott Stuber, Roberts, Marisa Yeres Gill and Lisa Gillan. Kevin McCormick and Chrystal Li are overseeing the project for Warner Bros, which will begin production in England in January.

Nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes, Olsen has just played the lead role opposite Carrie Coon and Natasha Lyonne in His three daughtersthe Netflix family drama from Azazel Jacobs, which she also executive produced. Before that, she headlined the Max miniseries Love and deathin the role of ax murderer Candy Montgomery, as well as that of Disney+ WandaVisionwhere she reprized her MCU role of Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch.

In September, Olsen created The evaluation — a sci-fi drama from Fleur Fortune, in which she stars alongside Alicia Vikander — at the Toronto Film Festival. The A24s are also coming for her. Eternitya romantic comedy she produced, in which she stars alongside Miles Teller and Callum Turner.
