A recall is underway for 9,600 pounds of puppy food made by Blue Ridge Beef.

This was prompted by concerns that the two-pound logs of the raw pet food company’s Puppy Mix could contain salmonella bacteria, according to a recall notice from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Each of the newspapers recalleddistributed in August, bears the UPC 854298001696. The batch numbers, present at the end of the packaging, are 08/06/N25 and 08/16/N25.

The FDA advisory asked pet owners not to give the recalled Puppy Mix to pets, sell it, or give it as a donation. Instead, they should either return it to where they bought it or destroy it.
