Cyber ​​incident hits Manitoba fine collection service

WINNIPEG — Manitoba Justice has reported a cyberattack targeting a third-party service responsible for collecting overdue court-ordered fines.

While there is no evidence personal data was compromised, the province says steps are being taken to assess the impact and prevent further exposure.

The service provider works with cybersecurity experts and Manitoba Justice to conduct a forensic examination. Authorities, including law enforcement and the Canadian Center for Cyber ​​Security, have been informed.

Manitobans with unpaid fines can visit any Manitoba court office in person or call (204) 945-3156 for payment information or to obtain clearance certificates needed to waive fines in suffering placed on their driver’s license and vehicle registration. Manitobans with questions regarding collections and clearance certificates can also contact the Fine Collection Unit at (204) 945-6414.
