Lamborghini Revuelto test – Sgcarmart

What we don’t like

Could use a dedicated stem for its indicator lights

“I think we’re alone now,” I whisper, toes tingling as my trembling hands gently brush over her hips, my fingers tapping just the right place to open her elegant scissor doors.

I’ve just been almost half asleep by Lamborghini as part of the day’s Movember activities (full story here), but the excitement is now more than manageable. A quick glance at my phone reveals that it’s almost 4:00 p.m.

The Lamborghini Revuelto is packed with eye-catching details throughout

Pianissimo

There’s not much time left – like a stern father-in-law, Lamborghini Singapore expects this car to be back at its showroom by 6:00 p.m. and the photos you see above haven’t been taken yet – but Then again, if there’s a car that can get a rush job done, this should be it.

Then we have to go. A simple movement of the cover which covers its on/off switch button and the application of light pressure later gives… silence.

In other supercars, all these movements would have been enough to cause a frightening roar from an engine, but this Revuelto is unlike any ordinary Italian Contessa. Its 1,001 hp makes headlines, of course, but the full story is a little more complicated than that (as all dating should be).

The car’s 6.5-liter V12 engine is mated to a sleek eight-speed dual-clutch transverse gearbox and is assisted by a total of three electric motors.

I snuggle into its plush seats, its wide center console a reminder that it houses a high-performance lithium-ion battery. This is paired with two electric motors that sit on the front axle (a third electric motor sits on its transmission), making this Lamborghini’s first real foray into the world of electrification, following the limited run of the equipped Sian of supercapacitors.

But don’t think this Lamborghini will lack drama. There’s still a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated engine that sits behind a tiny rear windshield. And it’s a real scorcher – the firm is keen to point out that it reaches a stratospheric 9,500 rpm while developing a total of 814 hp, making it Lamborghini’s most powerful 12-cylinder to date .

I don’t dare call on it yet – not within the confines of the Marina Bay Sands sound amplifier car park – but even in its fully electric ‘Citta’ driving mode it proves to be an easy ride.

The massive diffuser at the rear not only helps generate aerodynamic downforce, but also helps cool the Revuelto’s V12 engine.

The steering here is light and its carbon fiber single-fuselage chassis offers plenty of space in the cabin, so you should be able to find a comfortable driving position. There’s even a 360-degree camera system here, so you don’t have to worry about scraping its corners against the pavement.

But two things irritate at this point. The first being the fact that the Revuelto’s turn signals are activated via buttons on the steering wheel, making them a chore to use. The latter is less likely to disrupt a potential owner, but after keeping a comfortable distance from the exit gantry, I quickly discovered that those gullwing doors made it impossible to gracefully extend over and scan my exit coupon.

The controls for switching between driving modes and setting up the hybrid system are all conveniently located on the steering wheel, but the indicator buttons are difficult to use.

Fortissimo

Yet the next BMW in line waits patiently and even keeps a safe distance as I walk up the ramp to Bayfront Avenue. Driving a supercar comes with its own set of unique privileges.

Freed from the yoke of the restrictive width of the parking lot, I let her give a little life to her engine. It’s then “Sport” mode and it comes to life with a scary growl.

A quick sprint down Central Boulevard immediately puts to rest any fears about a sedative driving experience resulting from the plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Acceleration here can only be described as explosive, accompanied by rapid jumps of a thin blue bar (indicating the amount of electrical energy deployed) around the central tachometer. But keep the pedal down and let the revs chase that blue bar all the way to the limiter, and the car continues to deliver accelerating force in a rising crescendo all the way to the back of your loins.

And the sound that comes with it – let’s just say you’ll have people ready with their smartphones before you’re even within visual range. It’s raw, thunderous and visceral, as you’d expect. Need to stop quickly? There are also powerful brakes to deploy, which you operate via a reassuringly firm pedal.

Lamborghini says the new monofuselage on which the Revuelto is based has allowed it to offer more legroom and headroom compared to the Aventador Ultimae.

Mezzo-forte

5 p.m., it says on my phone – just enough time to travel to both locations to take the photos. The rain pays a visit and I respond by heading towards the shelter of the first destination, returning the car to its road-oriented ‘Strada’ driving mode.

This steering remains remarkably light, but what’s truly remarkable about the Revuelto now that it’s responsive to the pace we’re taking is what a refined machine it is.

The throttle is easy to modulate even if you give it the lightest touch and its semi-active wishbone suspension is firm but effective enough to protect you from the harsh edges of the road. Add to that the clever operation of its eight-speed transmission and you have a car that is truly easy to drive and easy to live with.

But that’s nothing compared to how easy it is to photograph. As mythical Europe has been charmed by its captor, all who spot the Revuelto approach with praise. Screaming with intention, full of drama and yet surprisingly stylish – these are my main takeaways from the exterior of the Revuelto. I’ll let the photos do the rest. Now it’s time to send her home.

THE Revuelto is an incredibly capable foray into Lamborghini’s world of electrification

Fermata

So, should you add an example to your own garage? Frankly, I see no reason not to do it.

Lamborghini’s first foray into the world of electrification proved very effective, meeting the urgency of the day’s short commute with plenty of pace and force, all accompanied by a level of refinement that left me left us wishing we had more time with her even after we said our goodbyes. .

But most importantly, I think, is the fact that it managed to do all this without losing any of the drama we’ve come to expect from Lamborghini’s V12-powered lineage.

It’s 8:30 p.m. and I’m finally home to rest. But Cor Tauri has only just begun to shine at its best.
