Hyderabad: A protest broke out on the campus of Osmania University Post Graduate College in Secunderabad on Saturday as three students suffered from food poisoning after having dinner on Friday evening.

A large number of students gathered near the college gate brought with them a charred container filled with burnt food which caused food poisoning. They raised slogans demanding justice and better catering services in the hostel.

According to the protesters, three students suffered from food poisoning after eating Khichdi, which was burnt, for dinner last night. Following this problem, three students were rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment.

“Given the problem, we decided not to have breakfast. We wanted the warden to visit the mess and address the problem. But we are told that the director is busy with the modalities of the recruitment exams for Group III services. As a large number of students are appearing for the exam, we have canceled the protest,” the students said.

The protesters complained that they had been served poor quality food for about a month.

“We have been facing food quality issues for several days. Additionally, the college has sanitation issues with unbearable stench near the hostel. Our repeated appeals to the college administration are not yielding positive results,” said Laxman, a second year PG student.
