Chin fillers are a simpler, less invasive alternative to permanent chin surgery for those looking for a subtle but quick change.

How do chin fillers dissolve?

Dr Shilpi Bhadani, plastic and cosmetic surgeon and founder of SB Aesthetics in Gurugram, spoke to The Indian Express about how chin fillers can be dissolved safely. According to Dr. Bhadani, it is essential to have fillers dissolved by a qualified expert like a plastic surgeon because the procedure involves injection near important nerves and blood vessels.

She explained that some dermal fillers can be dissolved using a special enzyme, but not all fillers are reversible. “Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most popular reversible fillers,” said Dr. Bhadani.

“Other temporary fillers, such as calcium hydroxylapatite and polymethyl methacrylate microspheres, may also respond to this treatment, but may cause adverse effects or other complications,” she added. .

Dr. Bhadani further explained that once injected, the body naturally breaks down the filler over time using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. However, if someone wants to speed up the process, hyaluronidase can be injected externally to dissolve the filler more quickly.

“Although the filler is hyaluronic acid, the enzyme that dissolves the filler is hyaluronidase,” explained Dr. Bhadani.

She further stressed the importance of consulting an expert before undergoing this procedure, as the enzyme can cause allergic reactions if not administered carefully.

After several cycles of filling, some people may feel that the final result does not meet their expectations and choose to undo the changes. Dr. Bhadani explained that once fillers have dissolved, individuals can choose to get them again after a waiting period of about a week or 10 days.
