Liverpool’s famous nightclub returns for one night only to celebrate Boxing Day. Situated on Dale Street in the city centre, the venue first opened as a stunning ballroom in the 1920s, before becoming a popular nightspot enjoyed by generations of clubbers.

The State was Liverpool’s first Laser nightclub, and in the 90s it became known for hosting huge events such as Monster Jam and Garlands. Many will remember the resident DJs who are part of its legacy, such as Mike Knowler and Andy Carroll, Mark Simon, Ste McGee and Radio City presenters Pez Tellet and Lee Butler.

Mike and Andy remained at The State until it closed in November 1989. But after its initial closure, The State reopened in 1990 and began hosting huge events such as Monster Jam and Garlands.

From there, Mark Simon, Ste McGee and Radio City presenter Pez Tellet were among the many Liverpool DJs performing on The State’s packed dance floor. Despite its closure, The State remains remembered as one of Liverpool’s most iconic clubs.

Ravers can once again enter the ballroom decorated for the state’s holiday party. DJ Lee Butler returns for a “legendary evening of anthems” with yet-to-be-announced supporting artists.

Doors open from 8 p.m., last entry is at 11:30 p.m. and the event closes at 3 a.m. You can buy tickets here.
