105 members take oath as MLAs, Maharashtra, MPs, oath, Legislative Assembly, opposition, Maha Vikas Aghadi, news India

Mumbai: As many as 105 members, including opposition leaders Maha Vikas Aghadi, took oath as MLAs of the new Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Sunday, the second day of the special session.

Opposition members had boycotted the oath-taking ceremony on Saturday, the first day of the three-day special session, alleging misuse of EVMs in the recent national elections.

Congress’ Nana Patole, Vijay Wadettiwar and Amit Deshmukh, NCP (SP) leader Jitendra Awhad and Shiv Sena (UBT) Aaditya Thackeray were among the prominent Opposition MPs who took oath as soon as the House met to the day.

On Saturday, 173 lawmakers were sworn in, while nine absent lawmakers will be sworn in on Monday.

Many new lawmakers were sworn in Sunday, and their family members rushed to the ceremony.
