ViewSonic says it’s working on a 27-inch 520Hz OLED gaming monitor

ViewSonic is preparing to make waves at CES 2025, scheduled for January, with the announcement of a standout gaming monitor. According to ComputerBase, a trusted German technology publication, this upcoming monitor will feature a cutting-edge OLED panel and an industry-leading 520Hz refresh rate. This promises an incredibly smooth gaming experience, especially when paired with the monitor’s 1ms MPRT (Moving Picture Response Time) support and AMD FreeSync Premium support. Its 27-inch screen size and 2560 x 1440 WQHD resolution should deliver impressive clarity and performance, striking a balance between crisp visuals and smooth gameplay.

A notable feature of this new ViewSonic monitor is its dual-mode capability. Players will be able to switch between a high refresh rate mode at a lower resolution and a high resolution mode, likely 4K, at a reduced refresh rate. This flexibility makes it an attractive option for those who want to tailor their gaming experience to different scenarios. While details on this feature remain scarce, its versatility-enhancing potential will certainly intrigue gaming enthusiasts.

ViewSonic is also preparing to introduce a new ColorPro monitor designed for creative professionals. This model will feature 5K resolution and Thunderbolt 4 support, aimed at users who need high color accuracy for professional applications. The ColorPro range aims to meet the demands of content creators, photographers and video editors, ensuring a rich and precise visual experience.

ViewSonic also appears to be pushing the boundaries of dual-mode technology, a feature that has gained traction in recent months. Monitors with this feature typically offer native 4K resolution at up to 240Hz, but they can upscale to Full HD (1920 x 1080) to achieve significantly higher refresh rates, such as 480Hz.
