Villagers panic after leopard kills sheep in Andhra Pradesh

Avulapalle village and surrounding hamlets of Madanapalle mandal in Annamayya district were gripped by panic on Sunday evening when a leopard allegedly attacked a herd of sheep and killed one near the forest area. Sheep farmers told forest officials that nearly six sheep had gone missing from these villages over the past week and remains of some carcasses were found in bushes near the forest. Eyewitnesses told forest officials that they saw a leopard roaming in the forest fringe area near Avulapalle on Monday morning. Forest officials who investigated the matter assured the villagers of prompt action.
