Jagdeep Dhankar warns of ‘deep state’ as Rajya Sabha echoes ‘Modi Adani Bhai Bhai’ | News from India

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha Chaos erupted on Tuesday when opposition members, led by Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, raised slogans targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and businessman Gautam Adani. Songs of “Modi Adani Bhai Bhaiand “Narendra Modi Murdabad” echoed in the House, disrupting proceedings and prompting Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to intervene.
Amid the ruckus, Dhankhar issued a stern warning about the growing influence of a “deep state“, which he described as a serious threat to Unity of Indiasovereignty and progress. Comparing its impact to that of the COVID pandemic, he called for a unified response from all political leaders.

“It has been found that the functioning of the deep state affects us more perniciously than the COVID disease, and this is an occasion when the entire nation must speak with one voice,” Dhankhar said in his speech. “The nation must give direction to the people at large so that all the enemies of Bharat, inside or outside a total lesson, never venture into any misadventure that may challenge our integrity and our sovereignty and hinder our progress.”
Dhankhar also spoke about a meeting held in his chamber earlier in the day between Leader of the House Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He stressed the importance of national integrity and urged MPs to honor their constitutional responsibilities.

“I had a meeting in my room between the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition,” he said. “The purpose of this meeting was to ensure the smooth functioning of the House…I would call on all members of the House to carefully consider the oath they took regarding the Constitution. Their oath is very specific. They must ensure respect for the Constitution. the integrity of the nation as a priority.
Reiterating the collective responsibility to counter threats to India’s unity, Dhankhar remarked: “Any challenge to the unity of the nation, to the integrity of the nation… demands that we all face a united challenge. section or the other. It is a challenge to our very existence. As a nation, we are committed to fighting these sinister forces, these forces hostile to India.
Despite his fervent appeals, the protests continued unabated. In response, Dhankhar announced that the House and Opposition leaders would meet again in his chamber on December 10, 2024, at 10:30 am, to continue deliberations on the issues and ensure smooth functioning of Parliament.
Concluding his speech with a call for unity, Dhankhar said: “I am a member of both sides; we live to the end and settle down in the nation. We are India First. So let’s make a commitment to the nation at 100, and our nation will not collapse and defy the nation. Our party has integrity, which is why I am sharing the meeting with the House leader while my partisan leader will continue to meet with my chamber, the House delegate-at-large, on December 10. 2024.”
