Buzbee has since contradicted Jay-Z’s claims. In a statement shared with The Associated Press, the lawyer said: “What (Jay-Z) fails to say in his recent statement is that my office sent his lawyer a letter of demand basis in the name of an alleged victim and that this victim has never requested formal notice. a cent from him. Since I sent the letter on his behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but has also attempted to intimidate and harass me and this complainant. His conduct had the opposite impact. She is emboldened. I am very proud of his determination.

The lawsuit comes amid a wave of sex trafficking and racketeering charges filed against Combs, who is currently being held in a federal detention center in Brooklyn following his arrest last September. Combs, who has pleaded not guilty, will face trial in May 2025.
