Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s ‘$3 billion net worth could be hit hard’ by rape claim and his ‘aggressive’ denial could ‘backfire’

JAY-Z and Beyoncé have stood together after launching a new lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl, but their $3 billion fortune could still be at risk amid the scandal, an expert has claimed .

The power couple attended the premiere of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King on Monday to support their daughter Blue Ivy.

They posed on the red carpet in Los Angeles with the 12-year-old, who plays Kiara’s character, and were joined by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles.

Their family show came after the rapper publicly denied the allegations against him in a fiery statement.

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, was accused in Sunday’s trial of taking part in the sexual assault alongside his former friend Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The woman, named in the complaint as Jane Doe, claimed she was abused as a teenager at a 2000 MTV VMA after-party.

Carter slammed the “heinous” allegations and said he was heartbroken for his family, while also lashing out at the alleged victim’s attorney, Tony Buzbee.

Former prosecutor Neama Rahmani of West Coast Trial Lawyers offered her thoughts on how the case could affect Carter and his famous wife, who are now billionaires and run several businesses.

“The simple accusations themselves can be very damaging,” he said.

“We saw, in Diddy’s case, that his net worth immediately took a big hit.

“This could potentially be a game changer for Jay-Z.

“He and Beyoncé are musical kings. Taylor Swift is perhaps the only musician more famous right now.

“And obviously Jay-Z has his hands in all sorts of different businesses, including producing the NFL’s Super Bowl halftime show. So what will the NFL’s reaction be?

“Potentially this can happen pretty quickly for Jay-Z, like it did for Diddy.

“Diddy was very aggressive, denied all allegations, and less than a year later he is in custody. He was denied bail and could spend the rest of his life in a prison. federal prison.

“I’m not saying this is necessarily going to happen to Jay-Z as well, but it’s definitely going to be eye-opening. Will more victims come forward? Is there any evidence to support these accusations?

Potentially, this can happen pretty quickly for Jay-Z, like it did for Diddy.”

“I think in Diddy’s case the key evidence was the video evidence of his victory over Cassie Ventura in 2016.

“What evidence and witnesses will come out in the coming weeks and months? I think it will be very telling to see which way this is going to go.”

The rapper and father of three fought back after the lawsuit was filed with his explosive denial, even accusing the plaintiff’s attorney of blackmail.

“My lawyer was the subject of an attempted blackmail, called a formal notice, by a ‘lawyer’… What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” he wrote.

“No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to report you for the fraud you’re committing in a VERY public way. So no, I won’t give you A RED PENNY!!”

Texas-based attorney Buzbee has already fired back, calling the star’s claims “false and laughable” and promising to pursue the case on his client’s behalf.

He said his communication with Carter was a “standard demand letter” that had been “approved” by the female accuser.

Rahmani told the US Sun that he was shocked by Carter’s statement, which was “unique” because it did not appear to have been written by a lawyer or a representative of the press.

“This could potentially backfire,” he said.

“And we saw it when people came out and attacked the victims in this case, and if the allegations are indeed true, sometimes that motivates other victims and other witnesses to come forward.

“They say, ‘Whoa, what’s going on? That’s not true. I was there.’

“So, I’ve seen time and time again someone come out and attack one of my clients who was a victim, and because this attack is very public, it brings more attention to the case.

“And other people start calling me and saying, ‘You know what, I want to help this person who was a victim.’ So this can certainly backfire, both in the courtroom and in the court of public opinion.

“I have pursued many people in the music and entertainment industry. And I don’t recall a case where the accused himself made a statement without running it through legal and PR. So it was certainly unique.

“But obviously Jay-Z felt like he had to come out strong and aggressive. And that was the nature of the response.“

But Rahmani said he did not understand why he attacked the lawyer.

“I don’t know why Jay-Z is against Buzbee and calls him an ambulance chaser and a cheap suit,” he said:

“Buzbee is representing his client who is making these very serious allegations.

“So my preference is to keep things professional and simply argue this matter in court without attacking the attorneys involved.“

Rahmani said he believed it was now a wait-and-see situation with Carter to see if any other alleged victims would come forward or if hard evidence of the current claim would come forward.

He is not accused of a crime and is not part of Diddy’s current situation as he remains behind bars awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Despite this, Rahmani said anyone who participated in or witnessed one of Diddy’s “bizarre orgies” could find themselves in a sticky situation and should hire a lawyer.

“Now, from Jay-Z’s point of view, this can be done one of two ways,” he said.

“It may be a one-off case involving an accusation made by a victim, which they will have to defend and perhaps even settle. Or, like Diddy, it may create a domino effect, or a snowball, where other alleged victims come forward.

“I think this is the kind of case that will not be resolved, and I’ve said this before, it’s not just about money, it’s about reputation.

“And I think that’s something that Jay Z is probably going to fight more or less to the end.

“If there is some sort of settlement, it will still tarnish his reputation, and I think it will be difficult for him to recover from that without some sort of vindication in the courtroom here. Or, of course, a withdrawal, by the (alleged) victim in this case.”
