Microsoft is set to improve its Teams platform to allow users to schedule messages in channels, even days in advance. With the new enhancement, users can optimize the timing of their messages based on the recipient’s work hours, remote availability, and more. to ensure they receive the message at an appropriate time.

This improvement will impact the desktop version of Teams, and the recent entry in the Microsoft 365 roadmap doesn’t mention the mobile version at all, meaning you won’t be able to schedule messages in Teams from your phone .

Here’s what the entry says:

Like in chat, you can now schedule messages to be sent in channels. You can optimize the timing of your messages based on the recipient’s work hours, out-of-office hours, etc., and ensure that your messages are delivered at the most appropriate time.

The ability to schedule messages in Teams chats is already available, but this new enhancement will give users tight control over how they communicate in Teams chats and channels.

The new feature is expected to launch in January 2025 and, as we mentioned previously, only the Desktop version of the platform is impacted for now. These features may be added to the mobile version later.

Additionally, Microsoft Teams was recently updated to support a unified chat and channel experience that will help users keep track of all their organizations more easily and quickly.
