Here’s exactly what Australians were searching for on Google in 2024

Thanks to Google, these answers are now at your fingertips – which can be both a blessing and a curse. Following in the footsteps of Spotify Wrapped 2024, the search giant has revealed its roundup of the top trending searches in Australia this year, covering a range of fascinating topics.

Google’s Year in Search report doesn’t just focus on the most popular searches – otherwise we’ll just get weather updates – instead revealing a list of news, recipes, definitions, people and trends. travel which have seen an increase in traffic throughout 2024.

“Who won the US election” was the most searched question on Google in Australia this year, with “US election” becoming the top trending search overall. The Olympics topped the list of most searched sporting events, while “Olympic medal count” ranked as the second most trending term in 2024.
