Ingredients to make Poha Cheela

  • 1 cup Poha (flattened rice)
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrot
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves
  • 1-2 finely chopped green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 teaspoons of oil (for cooking)

Recipe

  1. First, wash the poha thoroughly and soak it in water for 15 minutes. Then squeeze out the water and place it on a plate.
  2. In a large bowl, mix soaked poha, curd, finely chopped onion, carrot, coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt and mix the ingredients well.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan and add a small amount of oil. Spread a spoonful of the prepared mixture evenly on the pan.
  4. Cook until it turns golden brown and crispy on both sides. Once cooked, remove it from the pan and serve the Poha Cheela hot with green chutney or curd.

You can add other vegetables of your choice, such as peas or bell pepper, to enhance the flavor. For a low calorie version, cook Cheela with water instead of oil.
