BBC Radio 1 to introduce 27 new presenters over the festive period – RadioToday

From Boxing Day until New Year’s Eve, BBC Radio 1 is offering 27 new presenters and DJs the opportunity to broadcast on the station.

Many of those given the opportunity during this year’s Radio 1 Christmas Takeover started out at student, hospital, local or community radio.

These include Orla Dunne who has presented shows on Queen’s student radio station in Belfast, Beth Wallace from Northsound 1, Amelia Poamz who has presented shows on BBC Radio London and Daryl Jenkins Dixon who is on the station Community Spark Sunderland.

Salford University student and Shock Radio presenter Matt Hallsworth will present an early morning breakfast playlist. At this year’s Student Radio Awards, Matt won Best Presenter and Best Show.

North London native Nathan X will take over Radio 1’s Drum & Bass Show. Nathan . He has also hosted shows on Kool FM.

Megan Percival, originally from Scotland and currently presenting on Spark Sunderland, will host a special Eurovision playlist. Megan won Best Entertainment Program at this year’s Student Radio Awards for her show All Things Alt.

Matt Hallsworth said: “It’s always a great moment that I’m on Radio 1 this year for Christmas Takeover – I’m just a lad from Norfolk who loves listening to the radio! I look forward to telling stories, championing great music, and spending the holidays with the nation! »

Megan Percival said: “Being selected for Radio 1’s Christmas Presenter Takeover program is an honor for me. I am absolutely thrilled to have the chance to represent the mighty Kingdom of Fife and share in the pure euphoria of Eurovision. I can’t wait to introduce you to some of my all-time favorite songs from the competition that are all worthy of your 12 points.
